This Privacy Policy explains what information Plumbline (sold by Clark Counsel Group, LLC d/b/a SmartestDesk) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this simple on purpose: we collect only what we need to deliver your purchase and support you.
1 · Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Name and email address — entered at checkout; used to find your access code if you lose it, to send important product or revision notices, and to provide support.
- Agent code — if you enter an independent SmartestDesk agent's code at checkout (or arrive through their link), that code and your order are shared with the SmartestDesk Agency so the agent can be credited.
- Renewal documentation — if you request a reduced-rate renewal, the examination result documentation you choose to submit, used only to verify eligibility.
- Support correspondence — messages you send us.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Stripe collects and handles your card details directly under its own privacy policy. SmartestDesk does not receive or store your full card number or security code. We receive only confirmation of payment and limited order details (such as your name, email, the product purchased, and the last four digits of the card, which we keep only so you can prove a purchase to recover your access code or reset your password).
Automatically collected
The site uses no analytics or advertising tools. Our host keeps standard server logs (such as the time of a request and general browser type) to keep the site running. While you study, your room saves your progress (exam sittings, scores, chapters read) with your access code so it follows you; it is used only to show you your own progress. Plumbline does not sell your data.
2 · How We Use Your Information
- To issue your access code and provide the product you purchased;
- To verify renewal eligibility and process renewals;
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- To send essential service messages, including notices about edition revisions to materials you have access to;
- To maintain security, prevent fraud or abuse, and comply with law.
We will only send marketing email if you have opted in, and every such message includes a way to unsubscribe.
3 · How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate — for example, our payment processor (Stripe), our website host (Netlify), and, where you used an agent code, the SmartestDesk Agency — and only to the extent needed to perform those services, or where required by law. These providers are bound to handle your information appropriately.
4 · Data Retention
We retain your order and contact information for as long as needed to provide access, support renewals, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your personal information where we are not required to retain it.
5 · Your Choices & Rights
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction or deletion of your information;
- Opt out of any marketing email at any time.

6 · Cookies
The room uses two cookies that are necessary for it to work: one keeps you signed in for up to 12 hours, and one identifies the computer your access is bound to. Your browser also stores, on your own device, an agent's code for up to 60 days if you arrived through an agent's link, and a copy of your progress. You can clear these through your browser settings; clearing the computer cookie means you will need your password to move your access back to that computer.
7 · Children
Plumbline is a professional licensing-preparation product intended for adults. It is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect information from, anyone under 18.
8 · Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time; the "Effective" date above reflects the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
